Madison’s Only Women’s Theater Rockets into Space

The Kathie Rasmussen Women’s Theater (KRASS) in partnership with Madison Theatre Guild presents Ten Thousand Moons from Here by Kathleen Allison Johnson and Gail Sterkel. Rarely is sci-fi written for the stage. Even more rarely is it written by women. KRASS is pleased and excited to offer both in its first show of 2013.

As their spaceship hurtles through the final days of its thousand-year journey, the crew faces mounting crises. Their only robot is showing signs of age, devolving into imitations of old movie stars. Their contacts on the target planet, New Day, are strangely unresponsive. Is their best scientist out of her mind? And what is the real value of New Day’s rare chemical? This pulse-pounding journey celebrates both individual creativity and collaboration. Ten Thousand Moons from Here is a fun and enlightening exploration of the final frontier.

According to KRASS Artistic Director Jan Levine Thal, who is the play’s director, “We’re dedicated to producing quality work by women and this one is no exception. Moons is a serio-comic exploration of the future that — as all good science fiction does — illuminates the present. Like all good plays, it is both funny and moving — fascinating to the end.”

Both playwrights have written extensively for the stage and had numerous productions in Madison and elsewhere.

KRASS is raising money for this project through the Dane Arts “Power2give” project at power2give.org. Here’s the link. https://www.power2give.org/go/p/835
